My Sanity Ritual With a Twist of Inspiration

Yesterday was the first day I got home before 6:30pm in a very long time. Work has just been so busy and when we are short-staffed, it's worse. I sometimes feel like I can barely keep my lab together and running. When I start to feel overwhelmed, I have a ritual that I do to bring my focus back to what is important.

1. I take a long deep breath. Or a few long deep breaths depending on how stressed I'm feeling.
2. I make a list of everything that I need to do. Or combine all of the lists that I have into one.
3. I then divide my list into categories a) Urgent-I have to complete today or I'm in trouble b) To Do-I need to finish this week c) Later-I need to finish sometime in the future
4. Then I start tacking only the Urgent items.

I try to keep this planning to a minimum amount of time, usually no more than 15 minutes at a time. Seeing how I've been pretty stressed for the last couple of months, I try to do this on a daily basis. I think it is helping me to be more focussed on what's important. I also use this for keeping my sanity when it comes to school.

On to the photos. Continuing with my "inspirational" posts, I'm pleased to show off my awesome green cropped pants. I found these pants weeks ago when I thrifted with my sisters and haven't worn them once. I've been really unsure how to wear them without letting them overpower the whole look. Luckily, I ran across this Marshalls ad in the June issue of Lucky.

My version:

Sorry for the wrinkles. I took these photos after work.

Getting A Little Inspiration

As you all know, I love office looks, mostly due to the fact that I spend most of my time at work. When I'm not dressing for work, I tend to feel like I have nothing to wear. Having had this feeling too much over the last week, I thought I would look for inspiration to turn my I-have-nothing-to-wear closet into a I-have-so-many-options closet.

The Paper & Ink Collection over at Ruche was my first stop. I love the way way they added punches of spring colors to basic drab office colors. Look 6 is by far my favorite look.

I'll Be Back

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for sticking with me while I've been absent. I had exams and then finals right after and absolutely had no time for anything else. I just finished finals on Tuesday and hope to be back in blog mode this weekend. I do try to stay connected with Twitter (@SableandSage) and Instagram, so you can always follow me and stay updated with what I am doing.

Until my next post, enjoy this sweet picture of my kitty.

D'Andra
