I Looked My Age

I spent last weekend with my sisters. I really enjoyed getting to talk to them, plus going thrifting with them. We went to two Goodwill stores and a Salvation Army. I had lots of success at all three stores. I can't wait to show off my finds (lots of blouses and a purse or two). I found some awesome shoes, but they were too big. :(

I got a chance to briefly see my brother. When I stepped out of the car, he didn't even recognize me. Haha! However, he did tell me that I looked "really good." Oh! And I looked my age, but I shouldn't take that the wrong way. Hmmm...Anyway, here is the outfit he liked. I know you've seen this dress before, but this time it's for my brother.

TxSC Symposium

I'm working to catch up on all of the TxSC events. The day of the symposium was very educational for me. It really helped put things in perspective, blogwise. It was so great to hear other bloggers talk about balancing life with blogging. I enjoyed the Creative Consumerism breakout session. Diana, you rock! All of the talks were so genuine and informative.

I am disappointed with how this look turned out. I loved it without the jacket, but I was too cold not to wear one. I should have taken photos without the jacket. This is my first maxi skirt and I love it. The wedges I picked up on our TxSC trip to Savers. I made the necklace out of a brooch I got from the hunt.gather.style pop-up shop. I can't believe I found this great jacket for only $9.

Tank: Banana Republic Outlet (years ago)

Hope you all weathered last night's storm well.

TxSC Posh Party

Last Saturday evening was TxSC Posh Party. It was so much fun! I mingled with so many wonderful bloggers and talked with tons of TxSC sponsors.

I didn't take photos before leaving for the event. I was hungry and wanted to go to dinner. The hubs and I went to Mother's Cafe & Garden for dinner. It was delicious! I'm so glad Austin has several vegan restaurants to choose from. I'm slowly trying them all out. Let me just say thank you to Dr. Scholl's! My feet were still hurting from Friday night's heels, so I wore my Dr. Scholl's Fast Flats to dinner. My feet couldn't have been happier. Ahhh!

I had trouble sending tweets so I spent lots of time trying and the hubs took lots of photos of me with my phone. Here are a few.

Here are some of the sponsors I talked with. I made a point to try to talk to all of the sponsors, but I didn't meet all of them.

TxSC Shopping

Saturday of the Texas Style Council included an afternoon full of shopping. We started with a stop at Savers. We all crammed into the front of Savers and talked thrifting. Savers was so nice to accommodate all of us ladies and they even provided some refreshments for us. With thrifting tips in hand, we set off to find what was missing from our closets. I managed to get my hands on a dress, wedges, a handbag, and a necklace. I also managed not to take any photos while we were there.

Our next stop was the 2nd Street District. It was raining fairly steady when we got off the bus. Luckily, most of us had umbrellas. Our first stop was Langford Market. I scored several pieces of jewelry for a great price! Thanks Langford Market for hosting us.

Shopping at Langford Market

After I made my purchase, I stepped outside and started talking to Elissa of Dress with Courage. We both wanted to go to the hunt.gather.style pop-up shop at Ecetera. We trekked out into the pouring rain and found a great selection at the pop-up shop!

I need to go to more hunt.gather.style pop-up shops. I found some really great pieces. Thanks again ladies!

Here's to having a great week!

Yesterday was My Day

Yesterday, I turned one year older! I normally don't like to celebrate my birthday and I typically don't like gifts. I especially don't like to receive flowers. I feel they are a waste of money. However, yesterday I ate my words. One of my coworkers put up a huge banner and balloons in my office, plus I got flower. It's unbelievable how wonderful the flowers made me feel.

I wanted to wear something yesterday that made me feel just like those flowers did. I chose this outfit, which I picked up this past weekend at the hunter.gather.style pop-up shop. I missed this skirt when I looked through their lovely selection of skirts, but luckily I saw someone else looking at it. Thank you, Theresa! Sharon helped me style the shirt, so I must give her credit for that. Thanks, Sharon! I picked up the shoes at last year's Texas Style Council swap.

I was trying to get our outside cat to come over, but he didn't want to.

I got so many complements on this outfit yesterday. This may be my favorite outfit right now.

Texas Style Council Swap

Friday's Texas Style Council swap presented by Swap.com and Lulu's was so much fun! I was lucky to snag two great swap items and one awesome shirt from Lulu's. I met so many new and amazing ladies. I ended up swapping the red dress and the blue skirt. Forgive the quality of these photos. It was raining and the hubs snapped outfit photos as I was running out the door.

Swap items in hand.

Shirt: Ann Taylor via Goodwill
Skirt: Mono B via STRUT
Tights: No tag via I don't remember
Purse: No tag via local boutique (closed now)
Shoes: Pink Studio via I don't remember
Earrings: via STRUT
Bracelets: via Sam Moon
Jacket: Banana Republic Outlet

Price Tag: Shirt-$4, Skirt-$~20, Tights-$?, Purse-$32, Shoes-$?, Earrings-$10, Bracelets-$0 (gift card), Jacket-$?   I've done really bad at remembering prices for this outfit, so I won't even give a total.

I had my top tucked in and a pretty belt to top off the look. I hadn't put on deodorant, so I untucked and applied. Then, I went to the mirror to make sure everything was neatly tucked back in. I liked the look without the belt, so I ditched it and left my top untucked.

I have more Texas Style Council fun for this week.
