Blueberry Tart

Even though Monday was a holiday, this week has seemed so long. I'm ready for the weekend! So many people commented on my outfit today. My favorite comment was that I looked like a blueberry. Somehow I don't think that's a good thing. I still like it though! It was very comfortable and cheery.

Shirt: J.Crew via Goodwill
Sweater: Cashmere by Pringle via Goodwill
Skirt:  Ellen Tracy via Goodwill
Tights: Target

 Price Tag: Shirt-$5, Sweater-$6, Skirt-$6, Tights-$5, Shoes-$35, Belt-$10, Earrings-$10 = $77

If you don't want to look like a blueberry, but you like this look, try a different color or a different shade of tights.

Blue Dragons

This dress is so versatile and that's why I keep wearing it. Amazingly, I found it and the shirt at Goodwill. I enjoy finding the one awesome shirt in the bunch. I don't think you can tell, but there are blue dragons on this blouse. So fun!

Shirt: Jones New York via Goodwill
Dress: no tags via Goodwill
Tights: Banana Republic Outlet
Shoes: Wild Diva via STRUT
Earrings: STRUT
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Handmade by me
Price Tag: Shirt-$5, Dress-$8, Tights-$10, Shoes-$35, Earrings-$10, Belt-$2.50, Necklace-$20 = $90.50

This look can easily be recreated with any neutral sleeveless dress and a contrasting long sleeve shirt. Grab a cute skinny belt already in your closet and some tights and there you have it. I probably should have gone with a more plain earring, because the pattern on the shirt is so busy, but I wanted to wear these.

Happy Tuesday to you all!

Happy Love Day!

The hubs and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day. It's just too commercial. I would rather have the hubs and I do sweet things throughout the year, not just on one day. So, here's a sweet photo of us from a couple of years ago at Cape Cod.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Waiting for the Spring Line

Thanks to the hubs, I was able to go to the Tess Dress Trunk Show last Thursday. Fun!! I had a good time and met some really great people.

Here are some photos from the evening. Enjoy!

Sweet treats provided by the lovely Andrea of Bake Sale

So delicious!

Even though the treats weren't vegan I did indulge just a bit. Very tasty and pretty! I'm hoping that Andrea will be able to do a vegan selection of desserts for the hubs's book launch party later this year.

Pretty Pink Tess Dresses!

I'm so excited about the upcoming Tess Dress spring line. I already have my eye on a beautiful blouse and skirt! And yes Theresa has my size, but after telling her several times there is no way she will forget.

I met the sweet Jesse (Marketing Manager) of Republic Tequila.

Jesse made a great pretty, prickly pear drink! Jesse also has a blog: Jesse Coulter. How awesome is it that she will be attending the Texas Style Council Conference?

A Cool Afternoon

These photos are from a couple of weeks ago. I've worn this outfit before, but didn't take photos last time. I took these while hanging out with the hubs. It was cool enough that day to dress warmly.

Sweater: J. Crew via Goodwill
Dress: A is for Audrey via 499 Dresses Project
Socks: I can't remember, but I think American Apparel
Shoes: Qupid via UrbanOg.com
Belts: Charlotte Russe
Bracelet: Sam Moon
Earrings: STRUT
Handbag: H&M

Price Tag (approximations): Sweater-$5, Belts-$5, Dress-$10, Socks-$15, Boots-$25, Earrings-$10, Bracelet-$0 (gift card), Sunglasses-$10, Handbag-$40 = $115

The bag is a recent purchase, but I had to buy a bag while I was at school. The one I had broke from carrying my laptop, plus it was several years old. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I had limited time to pick one out and get to class.

Valentine's Trunk Show with Tess Dress

Come and join me! Thursday evening I plan to attend the Tess Dress Valentine's Trunk Show (depends on how the hubs is doing; he's sick right now).

Personal dress fittings, sweet treats, and pink cocktails? Yes, yes, and yes.

I really like the one in the middle.

Hope to see you there!

Shorts to the Office?

Who doesn't want to wear shorts to work? If you live here in Texas I know you do.

Here is how I wear shorts to the office:
1. If it's cool enough, I wear tights under my shorts.
2. I wear knee-length shorts. Any shorter and they are no longer appropriate for the office.
3. I never wear jean shorts (well not to work).
4. I usually pair them with a jacket/blazer.
5. I almost always wear heels with my shorts.

I've said this before here, but I'll say it again. A while back I started wearing shorts to work (it was almost too hot not to). It was hard to find shorts that were work appropriate. All I could find were very short shorts, so I had some made (sort of). I went to tons of stores to find slacks and made sure they would look ok as shorts. Then I took them to the tailor (yes, I was too lazy to do it myself) and had them hemmed to knee-length shorts. Here is another outfit.

Here is how I wore shorts today.
I didn't have these hemmed. They are real shorts.
