And The Dress Goes On

I hope you all aren't getting bored with this dress, because I'm not even half way through with this challenge. I'm not bored yet. I still have a few more restyles planned and I'm still thinking through the others. I'm willing to listen to any ideas you may have.

Tomorrow night the hubs and I are meeting my big sis and her husband for drinks and dinner! I'm excited because I don't see her nearly enough. We usually see other only around the holidays or my birthday or her birthday.

Anyway, the dress. I added this little jacket/sweater and gave my grey dress a completely different look. It almost looks like one piece.

It's My Poem

I know I have mentioned before that the hubs is a poet. I've also mentioned how he never writes me any poetry. In the 12 years we've been together, the hubs has written me two or three poems. I asked him a few years ago why he didn't write me poems. He didn't answer, and instead he wrote a poem for me. It is probably my favorite poem and yes because it was written for me. To make a long story short, it has finally been picked up for publication!!!!! I was so happy when he told me. You can find his poem, "Microscopy", here.

I hope you all enjoy it!

Restyle Outfits #2 & #3

Here's my second attempt at restyling this dress. I wore this on Saturday to our condo HOA meeting and lunch with the hubs. I took the weekend off from studying, but I shouldn't have; I'm really behind even though the term just started on Thursday.

I'm am feeling so much better than I was last week. Although the recovery from surgery was rough, I believe it is paying off. The stabbing pains have gone away! Soooo much better!

Outfit #2

Dress: Maude via LeGarage Sale
Cami: Banana Republic Outlet
Shoes: Report (I can't remember where I got them)
Belt: Charlotte Russe Outlet
Necklace: Charlotte Russe Outlet
Brooch: I'm not sure where it came from
Bracelet: Crickets (local boutique)

I altered this dress a little for this outfit. I made the shoulders smaller using safety pins. I wanted the cami to be seen a little more and give the dress a little different look. I also altered my necklace a little. It's normally a long beaded necklace, but I added a brooch to shorten it.

Here is outfit #3. I wore this to work today.

My Restyle Challenge Outfit #1

I guess I should start by apologizing for being gone for so long. I never imagined that I would be gone this long.  In my last post, I said I was about to have surgery. I had the surgery early in the morning and I was back home by the afternoon. The surgery went well, but it was the after that didn't go so well. I didn't do well with the anesthesia. I expected as much since they told me that people who don't smoke have a harder time. I definitely had a hard time. I spent the first two or three days after the surgery feverish and nauseated. I felt horrible! Luckily, I had the hubs and my mom here to help me. They were so great for putting up with me. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without help. I hate feeling so helpless.

Most people are able to return to work within a week after this surgery, but I just went back two days ago. Up until last weekend, I really couldn't sit for very long without having abdominal cramps near the incisions. I still have not completely healed yet. The doc just told me to take it easy, but I can do most everything now. I still have trouble reaching my feet, but at least the hubs helps me put on socks. I'm still having cramps when I get home in the afternoons, but hopefully I will just keep getting better.

I had planned on spending my recovery time blogging, but I couldn't even sit up for days. I was barely able to do homework for school. I was so exhausted after doing any studying that I took lots of naps. I missed my nap time while I was at work this week (both days).

While I was at home, all I wore was sweats. Two of my incisions are right at my waistline, so I really can't wear anything that will touch them. I realized that I really couldn't wear sweats to work. I knew I would wear my favorite comfy grey dress (shown here and here) a few times, but I had no idea what else I would wear the other 4 days of the week. I have a limited number of dresses that I can wear to work in the lab. I decided that I would try to see how many different ways I can style this dress, so I can wear it as often as possible. I'm in the early stages of planning, but I would like to see if I can wear this dress every other day. Would that be gross? I do plan on washing it, so it shouldn't be gross. Right?

My first goal is to style this dress 10 different ways. If I can accomplish that, then I may keep going. I am not buying anything new to style this dress with other than the belts I bought a few days ago. Here is the first of my attempts.

Dress: Maude via LeGarage Sale
Shirt: Banana Republic Outlet
Belt: Charlotte Russe Outlet
Tights: Target (I think)
Shoes: Pierre Dumas via ShoeStation.com
Necklace: Banana Republic

Come back and see what else I come up with.

Have a great weekend!
