I Wore Pajamas To Work

I really love the flowers in this pajama top, so I wore it. I didn't have a belt that really went with this outfit, so I whipped out some ribbon and fashioned a belt. Secret: My skirt is a little big and I couldn't easily get a safety pin this morning, so I used a paperclip. I should have remembered my emergency kit in my purse (that IS why I have it).

I felt like a ballerina wearing these pink tights.

Liberate Me From This Dress

I ran a few errands yesterday morning and then did some volunteer work in the afternoon. Today hasn't been as relaxing.

I really like this dress, but I have trouble styling it. I got it in the girls section of Target, so I got an extra large. Marie from Lemondrop Vintage has started a new blog Swap Stop, an online swapportunity. I have decided to swap this dress.

Size: Girl's XL (fits like a small)

There were tons of bees in that tree. All I could think of was that day I got stung while taking outfit photos. I sure could use some special bee powers like I got last time, but I'm glad I didn't get stung yesterday.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I'm Really Doing It

So, when I say I'm doing the repair work in the bathroom, I'm actually doing the work.

I secretly like doing this.

Think Pink

I've been sitting here for 36 51 minutes trying to write a post, but I've only managed to eat two handfuls of pistachios and now some popcorn.

I just wanted to be comfortable today, so I threw this on. I knew it would be great for after I left work. I wasn't freezing in the lab, and I was able to take off the pink shirt and just wore the tank as it was 80 something out today.

I still have wrinkles.

I'm Still Looking

I can't find the right mascara. For about two years I've been on the hunt for the one perfect one. Maybe I expect too much? I want my eyelashes to stay curled all day long. My lashes seem fairly long and full. I just want some CURL! Oh and no flaking. Is that too much to ask? I'm starting to believe that it is beyond my grasp. I mean really, should I expect my eyelashes to stay curled? My hair doesn't hold a curl for more than 5 seconds, so why should my lashes?

I know that mascara alone won't do the job. I have tried different curlers (even a heated curler) and they don't seem to help. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do.

Here's what I've tried:
Lancome High Definition Mascara
I used this one for a few years, but just wasn't completely satisfied with the results. It was a little flaky.

Smashbox Bionic Mascara
I tried this one after trying it in the store. Not bad for curling, but it gets very dry and flaky after some time.

XXL Curl Power Waterproof Mascara
I just recently bought this one. Tried it one time. It gave me spider lashes. Yuck! I only wore this for about 4 hours. By the time I got home it was halfway down my face. I looked like I was about to rob someone. And you call yourself waterproof? I wasn't near any water!! Now I'm out $8, not that it is a lot of money, but I could have used that money on something way better like Espresso Brownies with Dulce de Leche from Whimsy and Spice. I digress. Sorry.

Great Lash Washable Mascara

I bought this recently, too. So far, this one isn't too bad. My only complaint is that sometimes it does smear, but that is after 9 hours of wear without touch ups.

I have my sights on Rimmel's Volume Flash the Max Bold Curves for my next try. Does anyone have suggestions?

I'm Off To 'Mud'

Well, I thought today was going to be a rough day at work, so I thought I would dress to keep my spirits up. I have to say it did help.

My skirt was swapped at TXSCC by Amanda O'Brien of amandapants.com and lucky me I got it. Sorry for all the wrinkles. I have been sitting all day.

After dinner, I changed clothes and found that I got plaster all over my skirt from sitting on the stairs. I really don't like that contractor even more!

I'm off to 'mud' (apply joint compound to) the walls in the bathroom. I hope to prime the walls tomorrow and then maybe I can paint this weekend.

I'll Keep It Short

I'll keep it very short today. I have to go finish working on the bathroom. I can't wait until it's done. I will post before and after photos.

It was very windy out this evening. My hair is so crazy in this photo.

I was stretching my back and the hubs took some shots.

Birthday gift from my bestie.

I got these for $7.50 yesterday at Target.

Pretty Things

I'm not ready for the weekend to be over. Sorry for the lack of outfit posts this weekend. On Friday, the contractor...and yada yada yada, I had to repair the damage he left behind. I had primer and joint compound in my hair for two days (the repair work is in our one and only bathroom). We still have to clean the rest of the house because there is plaster dust everywhere. Aaarrrggghhh!!!!

So to help me get in a better, more relaxing mood, I found some pretty things that make me smile and make going to work tomorrow a little easier.

For Marie and Japan With Love

The hubs met the lovely Marie Mutsuki Mockett a couple of years ago and they quickly became friends. From the moment I met Marie, I knew just how wonderful she is. When the catastrophic events that hit Japan occurred, the hubs and I both questioned whether her family was okay. Marie had a great piece about Japan in The New York Times  and a guest appearance discussing Japan on NPR this past week. You can see her sweet blog here.

If I Were Wearing Heels

I've had a lot to do at work this week. My boss has been out which means I'm the go-to-person. I don't mind being in charge (which I am, even when she isn't gone), I just haven't been in my position long enough to be able to answer all the questions that could possibly be asked of me. So the added stress makes for a long week. I'm glad that tomorrow is Friday! Why does any of this matter? Well, this is why I wore tennis shoes today. I'm exhausted from this week. I decided that my photos would probably look way nicer if I were wearing heels, but I wanted you to know I did not wear them today.

I love these two necklaces.
I find myself wearing them a lot.

I love these shoes!

My Time at the TXSCC

Sorry for the delay in posting this, but my computer has been locked up for the last two days. So, I'm trying to get this posted before I leave for work. So.....Like I said I had a great time at the conference this past weekend. I met some really sweet and talented ladies. I learned some really great things. Here's what I threw on the last minute. I know it wasn't cold here in the Austin, TX area, but I'm always freezing so I knew I would want the tights and blazer.

One of the panels I attended at TXSCC was on authenticity. This panel reminded me to always be myself and never give-up that little part of me that makes me, D'Andra.

I also went to the photography workshop, so the hubs and I will be experimenting with photos over the coming days. We will attempt to implement the techniques that Bryan and Kendi graciously showed the attendees.

I got to meet the lovely Marie of LemondropVintage. She just lives a few blocks from me! Wow! We carpooled to the conference and spent the time getting to know each other.

They Say It's Your Birthday...

It's my birthday too, yeah! (Do I have to say that's from the song Birthday by The Beatles?)

Here's what I wore on my 35th birthday! Wow! I sure don't feel like I've lived three and a half decades.

I was watching some birds play.

I had such a great time at the Texas Style Council Conference (TXSCC) this past weekend. I will do a proper post tomorrow. I just want today to myself. I know I'm being selfish, but after I ripped into the cake at work before they even lit the candles, I figure what the hell, why stop there. I'll be back to my normal self tomorrow.

I'm not a big fan of getting gifts for my birthday, so I finished making those earrings and now you all will have a chance to win one pair of earrings. I'll even let you choose which ones. Check out my next post for more details on the next giveaway!
